Breaking Free and Coming Back
From a childhood in a cult to a school that welcomed me home, this is my story of courage, healing, and hope
I only had a few short weeks in my EA internship before I had to leave for my once-in-a-lifetime healing trip to Europe. I honestly thought that was the end, that I had missed my chance. I had to choose between my mental health and the start of my career.
But then something beautiful happened.
The principal at the junior high where I was placed told my coach they wanted me back. Since May, I’ve been volunteering my time there, showing up however I could, because that school left a mark on me and apparently, I left one too.
On September 2nd, I officially return.
This isn’t just a job for me. I was raised in a cult where I wasn’t allowed to work or pursue an education beyond the basics. I was taught that women belonged in silence and servitude. I wasn't supposed to dream, let alone become.
But here I am, returning to a school that chose me. Walking back into a future I was never meant to have.
It’s not just a job. It’s me reclaiming everything I was told I’d never be allowed to have. ❤️
Good happenings for a good person. Your future is bright Ms B.
