Fuck Societal Norms

It’s no secret, there’s an age gap between us.

But truthfully, we don’t think about it. It doesn’t affect us, not even a little.

When people ask, “What could you possibly have in common?”

Our response is simple: “What don’t we?”

Our values and beliefs align effortlessly. Our conversations are deep, intellectually stimulating, emotionally raw, vulnerable, and sometimes uncomfortable, because that’s how we grow.

We don’t fight. Our voices never rise in anger only in laughter.

Sure, society may do a double-take. But we don’t care.

Ours is a love like A Walk to Remember, real, enduring, and transformative.

After thirty-three years of surviving hell, I’m holding on with everything I have.

The song Rewrite the Stars has been a meaningful part of our journey.

Because maybe we can rewrite the stars.

Maybe love isn’t bound by numbers or norms.

Maybe we should follow our hearts instead of bending to a broken system.

Maybe choosing what we want and who we want is the only thing that ever truly matters.

And every day, I’m thankful we chose us.

It worked out.

And it keeps getting better far better than I ever imagined.
